Announcing the winners of our {LOVE giveaway}!

Good morning everyone and Happy Valentine's Day!
Love is in the air and we're excited to announce the 2 winners of our {LOVE giveaway}.

First of all, thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway! I kept track of a all the entries, taking into account all the extra entries for posting on Facebook and/or blogging about the giveaway. Then I randomized the list and used random.org to pick the winners.   So congratulations #14 (spoon), and #8 (chocolate)! Oh wait, you still don't know who you are...hehe, the suspense is killing you, right?

Ok, drum roll please........Congratulations to Teale (spoon) and Heather (chocolate)!  Email us at info@shellywindham.com to claim your prizes!   Remember, the winners were selected at random, but I'm sure you'd still like to see what each of them said about their most loved piece.....

Teale loves her piano:  "My favorite piece of furniture/accessory in our home is our piano. My grandmother purchased it used in the 1950s. It is a Lester "Betsy Ross Spinnet" model from the 40s. It still has the original price sticker inside... $979. I love that it shows a little bit of wear marked by years of use, from my grandmother, my uncles, my mother, and myself... all that practicing through many years of lessons. I hope to pass it along to my daughter one day, and hope she grows to love to play as much as I do."

Heather loves her dining table:  "My house isn’t filled with antiques; in fact, it is still a work in progress. Our families haven’t passed down heirloom pieces to us that are displayed throughout our home. When my husband and I bought our first home together we knew that we wanted to be able to have pieces of furniture that would be used lovingly today and then passed down to generations yet to come. After scouring furniture stores for weekends on end, we finally found our first piece of furniture that does just that - our dining table with the Irish-ring style chairs. Our furniture isn’t just used for special occasions, we love sitting here and having family dinners. I hope that one day when the pieces go to our children and on to theirs, they too will remember the good memories, the laughs and the special times that we have had around this table."

I'd love to share my favorite with you today - my dining table.  It was custom made by one of my favorite furniture manufacturers, Mackenzie Dow.  Made in West Virginia of Black Appalachian Cherry, I love that it's made in the USA and by people that I know.  I love that it's hand-planed showing a natural distressing which will become more distressed by the little ones that dine over the years.  I love that it extends out to seat our entire extended family for parties and celebrations.  I love that it's a piece of furniture that my husband and I both wanted, saved for, and purchased together.  We love having people in our home for meals and know the importance of having our family dine together as often as possible.  This is our heirloom piece we plan to pass down to future generations. We love it!
{Please excuse the lack of rug in the dining room...I'm still looking for one that I love!  A designer's home is no different than anyone else's home....a continous work in progress!}
